JOBA Global Experts Online Meeting

A Note of Thanks and Report

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the JOBA Global Experts who participated in yesterday’s online meeting from India, Malaysia, Singapore, and other locations. The meeting provided an important platform for exchanging ideas and developing a new art and learning project based on Thinaiyam (THINAI). In particular, the discussion focused on taking forward the ideas that emerged from the training workshop held at Gobanari, Coimbatore, and transforming them into a structured programme of action.

The concept of THINAI – Technology, Humanities, Indigeneity, Nature, Aesthetics and Innovative Competencies forms the foundation of this initiative. Based on these six domains, 215 projects under 12 themes have already been developed. Each project follows a structured sequence of Lesson → Activity → Assessment. The assessment component is designed in two dimensions: Cognitive Assessment, focusing on knowledge, understanding and reflective thinking; and Aesthetic Assessment, focusing on artistic expression, creativity and aesthetic appreciation.

These projects are planned to be adapted for three age groups: below 18 years, 18–35 years, and above 35 years, taking into consideration the participants’ levels of understanding, skills and life experience. The meeting also discussed the possibility of delivering these projects through a dedicated mobile application (App) in the future.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Manoharan, Country Leader, JOBA Malaysia, introduced the background and experiences of the Gobanari training workshop. This was followed by Mrs. Preethi from Coimbatore, who presented the structure of the projects through an Excel-based framework. Mr. Pamayan explained how Thinaiyam is evolving as a philosophy and how the lessons and activities within the THINAI programme are being developed based on this philosophical foundation. Mr. Drama Selvam then shared his experiences from the Gobanari workshop. Subsequently, JOBA experts from India, Malaysia and Singapore shared their views, suggestions and new ideas regarding the proposed art project.

The rich exchange of ideas among experts from different disciplines and countries has opened up new possibilities for transforming Thinaiyam from a concept into a practical experience of learning, art, activity and sustainable living. The discussion also marked an important step towards developing the 215 projects into an innovative learning initiative that can be adapted and made relevant to people of different ages, backgrounds and countries.

We express our sincere gratitude to all the JOBA Global Experts who generously shared their time, knowledge, experience and ideas during the meeting. Their continued participation and collaboration will be invaluable in refining the 215 THINAI projects and developing them into a meaningful new-generation learning initiative.

THINAI – Technology, Humanities, Indigeneity, Nature, Aesthetics and Innovative Competencies
