The meeting was attended by Dr. Peng, Founder, Global Culture Co- Learning, Taiwan, Mr. A.S.Sankaranarayanan, Managing Trustee, NMCT, Coimbatore, Dr. John Britto, Founder/CEO, JOBA, Australia, Mr. Santiago, Development Consultant, Madurai and Dr. Shoby Bovas COO, NMCT, Coimbatore.
Key Discussions
Mr. Shankar Narayanan initiated the meeting in welcoming every one and briefing on the progress in Global Academy. A proposal was prepared and presented and discussed with German corporate, Boehringer Ingelheim Medical Company. The company suggested uploading the proposal on the Benevity platform, a popular platform in Germany where potential supporters can view and engage with the proposal. KKS (Karl Kubel Stiftung) expressed interest in training people from India and appointing them in industries through their migrant labour immigration program. Requirements were identified in various sectors, including:
- Social work
- Management
- Information technology
- Health sector
Karl Kubel Stiftung (KKS) is a long-term partner of NMCT.
Dr. John Britto coordinated and framed the agenda for the meeting, which included:
1. Fine-tuning the project proposal
2. Identifying general domains for the curriculum
Also added that Once the fund is secured, work can commence . Starting with smaller initiatives and gradually scaling up to larger projects. Initial plans include offering online classes to interns at NMCT.
Mr. Santiago proposed starting the Global Academy while fine-tuning the proposal, utilizing this year's interns at NMCT. NMCT experts can serve as the initial faculty.
Dr. Peng Suggested as Set up core courses based on key domains. Establish primary frameworks aligned with the Vision, Mission, and Principles. Incorporate region-specific specializations and staff training aspects.
Dr. Shoby discussed the current intern intake at NMCT, which stands at 51 since January. Eight interns are expected to join NMCT in May. They are from Kerala and as well as from Tamil Nadu will reside here for 30 days for their internship. Modules for interns were discussed.
Mr. Shankar Narayanan suggested discussing the Global Academy's special certified courses with professors, encouraging them to participate in external programs abroad.
Mr. Santiago questioned about the specific knowledge and skills expected from interns during their month-long orientation.
The expectations include: Practical exposure, Cultural exchange, Preparing project proposals
Executing projects in the field
Peng Added some points that Specific Knowledge, Skills: Sustainability and Media, Globalisation studies, Social Innovation, Project Management Professionals (PMP), Field Survey Research Techniques, Social Work Leadership (SWL)
Planned to initiate Smart Classes to 8 interns for four weeks
Class One - First Week - Sustainability (Community Based Organisations) for Social Work - Mr. Sankaranarayanan
Class Two - Second Week - Globalisation Studies for Modern Leadership - Prof. Dr. Patricia Peng
Class Three - Third Week - Social Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise - Mr. Santiago
Class Four - Fourth Week - Understanding Media Culture and Society- Prof. Dr. John Britto Parisutham
